A church that was burglarized two weeks ago has now been vandalized.
Someone spray-painted the word "murder" in two-foot letters on the side of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. They painted the word "killer" on sculptures of Jesus, Mary and the Apostle John. The Rev. Terry Fulton says vandals also set a fire dangerously close to the Woodland church's gas main, but there was no explosion.
Over the Thanksgiving long weekend, burglars burned a hole in the church's safe, taking more than $20,000 intended to feed the poor.
Woodland police are investigating the vandalism that occurred overnight Wednesday as well as the recent break-in. Police say defacing the property could be a hate crime meriting extra prison time.
