Blaming an accounting mix-up, Miss California USA organizers have handed this year's title from Miss Los Angeles Christina Silva to Miss Barstow Raquel Beezley.
Beezley was handed the crown Thursday in a Beverly Hills ceremony by last year's Miss California, Megean Tandy, after the pageant's state director, Keith Lewis, blamed the mistake on "human error."
Silva was originally declared the winner of the November 25th competition, but she relinquished the title days later to second runner-up Beezley after organizers discovered an apparent accounting error.
Silva has hired an attorney and is threatening legal action over her loss of the title.
Beezley called her win "bitter sweet."
She says she wishes she could have prevented the turmoil over the pageant, but that she's worked to win it her entire life.
