A federal bankruptcy judge has approved the sale of the headquarters of Your Black Muslim Bakery for use as a nonprofit center serving people with AIDS and other serious illnesses.
Judge Edward Jellen on Thursday approved selling the property for about $1 million to a partnership buying the property for Vital Life Services.
The bakery had been a well-known community business before falling apart in bankruptcy and violence.
Bakery handyman Devaughndre Broussard, 20, has been charged with
murdering Oakland Post Editor Chauncey Bailey.
Police say Broussard was upset about the editor's reporting on the bakery's financial problems.
