Kidnapping Suspect Killed by Police Officer in San Diego

A police officer shot and killed a man suspected of kidnapping and sexually assaulting an ex-girlfriend after he rammed several cars trying to elude arrest, authorities said.

The incident occurred Friday, beginning in San Marcos with the alleged kidnapping. As the 30-year-old man tried to escape, he drove his car into police vehicles three times before being shot, authorities said.

The man's name was not immediately released.

The police officer, whose name also was not released, is a 14-year veteran of the department.
