A new ten-mile toll road in the southern part of San Diego County is open for business.
The four-lane tollway runs between state Route 54 and state Route 905 in the Otay Mesa industrial district, near the Mexican border.
Traffic appeared light to moderate on Monday, the first day of operations.
South Bay Expressway funded and built the $843 million road.
The company has the right to charge tolls for at least 35 years.
Tolls for cars and SUVs will range from 75 cents to $3.75.
Trucks and large vehicles will pay more.
The road is free until December 3rd, or until January 14th for those with toll accounts.
