CHP Officer Dies in Crash While Searching For DUI Suspect

A CHP officer is dead after losing control on a sharp curve and crashing into a tree.

The California Highway Patrol says 32-year-old Officer John Miller was searching for a suspected drunk driver at about 9:15 p.m. Friday when the crash occurred on a dimly lit two-lane road.

Miller joined the Dublin CHP office in April after finishing the CHP Academy in West Sacramento.

Livermore police later arrested the drunken driving suspect that they identified as 21-year-old Luis Solano. Solano is being held on suspicion of DUI, evading police and driving without a license.
