Judge Approves Gang Restrictions in Southern Orange County

An Orange County Superior Court judge has approved a preliminary injunction against 139 alleged members of the Varrio Viejo gang.

The injunction means the defendants will be arrested if they are seen associating with one another, wearing gang clothing or making gang handsigns with a 1.5-square-mile area in San Juan Capistrano and Mission Viejo.

A civil trial will be held to determine if the injunction becomes permanent.

Judge Daniel Didier is expected to approve another preliminary injunction against a rival gang, San Clemente-based Varrio Chico,
later today.
