It's being called the largest marijuana bust ever at the Calexico port of entry. Federal agents say they have seized nearly nine tons of pot inside a shipment of flat panel television sets.
Drug dogs alerted border patrol agents to the tractor-trailer Friday afternoon. Inside they found over 1,000 packages of pot along with the TVs.
The accused smuggler is a 25-year-old Mexican and registered participant in the FAST program.
FAST is an agreement between Mexico, Canada and the United States to expedite trade. "Low-risk" drivers must submit an application and agree to a security profile.
