LA Couple Arrested For Allegedly Posing As Deputies In Shakedowns

Authorities report a Fernando Valley couple has been arrested for posing as sheriff's deputies to rob illegal immigrants.

Officials say 34-year-old Steve Leo and 32-year-old Sabrina John would dress in green clothing resembling sheriff's uniforms and approach immigrants in Los Angeles and Orange counties.

Investigators say the two would then identify themselves as deputies, order the victims to submit to a pat down and steal their money and wallets.

Leo and John would drive off after instructing the victims to walk away.

The Reseda couple told police they are married with one child.

Investigators say the pair also targeted the elderly and school kids and may have robbed more than 20 people.

Officials have asked victims to come forward.

The pair were arrested October 24th after a vice detective from the city's Rampart Division spotted them trying to shake down a teenage boy.

Each is being held on $500,000 bail and faces three counts of robbery and two counts of attempted robbery.
