Talks in Hollywood fail and writers go on strike

Hollywood writers are going on strike... and the walkout starts today. In fact, the first picket began at Rockefeller Center in New York City.

The strike comes after talks between the writers and the studios broke off last night, after 11 hours of negotiations. As far as how it could affect you, that depends on what you watch.

Most primetime shows already have several new episodes waiting to air. However, shows that depend on *new* content everyday... such as late-night talk shows... could feel the pain if the strike doesn't end soon.

The last time writers went on strike was in 1988. That strike cost the industry about half a billion dollars.
