Authorities Say Police Shooting Suspect Used Alias After Arrest

Authorities say they have learned the true identity of a suspect being held in the shooting of a Rialto police officer.

San Bernardino County Sheriff's spokesman Arden Wiltshire says the man identified himself as Jaranard Thomas when he was arrested on Thursday morning, but yesterday a fingerprint check revealed that the his real name is Kris Antonio Wiggins.

Wiltshire says the 32-year-old Wiggins is wanted in Mississippi on a warrant for selling crack cocaine.

He is being held without bail on suspicion of the murder of a police officer.

Twenty-nine-year-old SWAT team officer Sergio Carrera was shot while serving a search warrant early Thursday morning.

He later died during surgery.
