An acrobatic plane doing stunts over the ocean was forced to make an emergency landing next to the Seal Beach pier when its engine stalled Friday.
Orange County Fire Department Battalion Chief Don Forsyth, says a student pilot was about three miles offshore practicing acrobatic flying when the engine suddenly died.
The instructor, who works for Air Combat USA., safely landed the plane on the beach without damaging the aircraft or injuring anyone.
Air Combat USA spokesman Jim Neubauer says the plane is registered to a corporation in Oregon. He calls the instructor "very cool-headed."
