A police SWAT officer was shot in the head and critically wounded during a dawn felony warrant search in a Rialto apartment.
Police Cpl. Gary Richard says the wounded officer, whose name was withheld, was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center and rushed into surgery.
No one else was hurt and the suspect named in the search warrant was the alleged shooter and he was arrested.
The police spokesman says special weapons officers were serving a search warrant at an apartment on Cascade Drive when the shooting
occurred early Thursday.
Fire Battalion Chief Troy Johnson would only say paramedics "have treated a Rialto Police officer."
There were no details about the search warrant.
