Senator Dianne Feinstein is calling on voters to urge Congress to pass legislation to combat global warming.
The California senator is working on legislation that would increase the fuel efficiency of all cars, encourage the use of low-carbon fuels and cap greenhouse gas emissions in all sectors of the economy.
At a conference in San Francisco Thursday, Feinstein said that while global warming poses a severe threat, it also represents an opportunity to create new industries based on clean technology and renewable energy.
Feinstein says Congress is still deeply divided on what must be done to fight global warming, so California and other states should not wait for the federal government to act.
