Thousands of needy children and families who lined up overnight at a Skid Row mission will get school supplies, clothes and shoes this morning in a back-to-school giveaway.
The 19th annual event begins 10 a.m. at Fred Jordan Mission in downtown Los Angeles.
Religious institutions, individuals and companies including Foot Locker and Sears donated the items.
Mission founder Willie Jordan and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa are expected among the event's volunteers.
