The Blue Angels soared in the skies above San Francisco Thursday ahead of this weekend's annual Fleet Week air show.
The Navy's precision flying team will perform aerial maneuvers Saturday and Sunday as part of San Francisco Fleet Week 2007.
On Thursday, they did a practice run.
The visit by the Blue Angels to San Francisco comes after the Board of Supervisors rejected a proposal last week that would have banned for safety reasons the flight demonstration team from flying over the city.
Critics had said the jets could crash into the Financial District or homes while flying as close as 18 inches apart, from wingtip to canopy.
Safety concerns were revived in April after a crash during an air show in Beaufort, S.C., that killed the jet's pilot and injured several people on the ground.
The cause of that crash is still under investigation.
