Wounded soldiers home from wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have been getting surfing lessons along the Central Coast.
Near the Pismo Beach pier, volunteers with Operation Restoration have been teaching maimed veterans to surf. It's the program's second year.
A film crew from the yet-to-be-released surf movie "Shaped" and surfers from the Billabong apparel company got in the water with veterans from Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.
It was an exhilarating time for Army Reserve Staff Sergeant Chad Jukes, whose right leg was maimed by an anti-tank mine in December.
Jukes says quoting now "You can still go out and have some fun. You don't have to let an injury like this get in the way of living life."
