PALO ALTO, Calif. (AP) - The California Highway Patrol says one person died and two others were critically injured when a vehicle overturned on Highway 101 in Palo Alto.
The crash occurred a little before 7 a.m. Friday on northbound 101 at the Embarcadero exit. CHP spokeswoman Diana McDermott says a CHP patrol car was also damaged during the crash, and an officer suffered a minor injury.
McDermott did not immediately have additional details about the incident. She said only one lane of the freeway remained open in the area and advised drivers to take Interstate 280 instead.
The lane closures were likely to remain in effect for several hours.
