LAS VEGAS (AP) - MGM Resorts has announced plans for a tree-lined outdoor shopping and dining district that will guide visitors to a Las Vegas Strip arena that's in the works.
The company said Monday the eight-acre development dubbed "The Park" will feature patio dining, desert landscaping and long, water wall-style fountains that will stretch along the entrance.
Park areas will flank the road Rue de Monte Carlo, which leads off the Las Vegas Strip between New York-New York and Monte Carlo casinos. The street itself will be reworked into a curving parkway that leads up to the planned, 20,000-seat arena.
The full entertainment district is set to open in early 2016 in conjunction with the arena.
Projects to revamp the front areas of New York-New York and Monte Carlo are already underway.
