CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Sales at electronics stores and auto dealers in June helped keep Nevada's consumer-driven economy heading in a positive direction.
The Department of Taxation reports taxable sales in June totaled $3.9 billion, an increase of 1.2 percent over the same month in 2012.
Sales fell slightly in Clark County but were up 6 percent in northern Nevada's Washoe County.
Gross revenue collections totaled $309 million for the month, representing a 2.3 percent increase over June 2012. For the fiscal year, gross tax collections were up 5.7 percent.
Also for the fiscal year, the portion of sales and use taxes that go to the state general fund were up $3 million over the forecast made in May by the independent Economic Forum.
Forum projections are used to set the state budget.
