RENO, Nev. (April 16, 2013) – Handcrafted describes the age-old brewing process, but when it comes to bottling, speed and quality are the way of the future.

According to a press release as Great Basin Brewing Company struggles to keep up with local and regional demand for their bottled brews, owners Tom and Bonda Young decided to invest in a new high-speed rotary bottling line, which will see bottles flying off the line at a rate of one every 0.7 seconds.

The new bottling line arrived at Great Basin’s Taps & Tanks location and will begin production on Thursday, April 18, 2013.

Great Basin’s new bottling equipment is the fastest beer-bottling line in the state of Nevada. In addition to speed advantages, the new Italian-made GAI monobloc equipment will maintain the superior quality of the delicate beer as it is carefully transferred from tank to bottle, assuring the imbiber a consistent and flavorful beverage in each and every bottle.

“It’s bigger. It’s faster. It’s better. It’s our key to expanding distribution into Las Vegas and northern California,” said Tom Young, owner of Great Basin Brewing Company. “The new system and some more soon-to-be-added tanks will also give us the capability to bottle a wider variety of our beers, including some of our frequently requested seasonal brews.”

Great Basin began bottling and distributing its flagship Ichthyosaur (A.K.A. “ICKY”) IPA in 2011, and its Wild Horse Ale in December 2012, both of which have successfully moved off the shelves in northern Nevada and surrounding areas since their launch.

The brewery plans to have their Bitchin’ Berry Ale on shelves this summer as a limited edition seasonal release and a crystal pale, “Dawn Patrol” brewed as a tribute to benefit the Great Reno Balloon Race. The award-winning Outlaw Milk Stout will arrive in bottles in the Fall 2013.

The public is invited to come into Great Basin Taps & Tanks, located on E. McCarran between Rock Blvd. and Mira Loma, during taproom hours, Thursday through Saturday 3pm-7pm, to view the new high-speed bottling line.

Great Basin will give away the first case of beer bottled from the new line to the winner of a raffle held at 6pm on May 9, 2013 at Taps & Tanks.

Winner need not be present to win. Brewery patrons will receive one entry for the raffle for every pint purchased from now until May 4, 2013 at the Great Basin Taps & Tanks location.

Great Basin beer, distributed by Southern Wine and Spirits, is currently available at both Great Basin brewery-restaurant locations, at their Taps & Tank location, and at over 400 restaurants, bars and retail stores in northern Nevada.
