Tired of paying taxes? Move to Wyoming or Alaska and live large off the other 48 states.
Alaska charges a tax on oil that ends up being paid by consumers in other states. Alaska actually writes checks to families in the state every year because so much revenue is generated.
Nevada generates much of its revenue from vacationers which may explain the lack of an income tax.
During the 2011 fiscal year, state-local tax burdens as a share of state incomes decreased on average. This trend was largely driven by the growth of income in all states.
