Rainstorms in China have battered the east, central and southwest regions of China. Rescuers were busy yesterday trying to evacuate residents who were trapped in their homes. Some of the rain has caused landslides that cut off villages. Rain is predicted through most of today.

In Mexico Mt. Popo is rumbling to life. It is leaving a layer of ash throughout four surrounding towns. The volcano, whose name is the Aztec word for "smoking mountain", is about 35 miles outside Mexico. More than 30 million people live within sight of the volcano.

Fire crews in Arizona have had a busy weekend battling forest fires. The "Gladiator fire" is burning in the Prescott National Forest north of Phoenix. It has burned more than 300 acres and destroyed two buildings. Families in the area have been told to evacuate and the Red Cross has set up a shelter at a local high school.

West of Phoenix near the town of sunflower, miles of forest land is being destroyed by yet another wildfire. Investigators say this fire was most likely human caused. The "Sunflower fire" started early Saturday morning and quickly grew to more than 2,500 acres. The rough terrain as well as gusty winds are making it extremely difficult for the 150 firefighters to get it under control.
