RENO, Nev. – Hannah Howell tossed a one-hit shutout as BYU knocked off the Nevada softball team 8-0 on Friday at Hixson park.

Nevada (21-32, 9-10 WAC) got its lone hit from Sara Parson, who belted her WAC-leading 17th double of the year in the fourth inning. She is now one off the school record of 18 doubles in a season. BYU improved to 38-13 and 13-4.

The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. at Hixson Park. Saturday is Senior Day for Nevada as the Wolf Pack will see pitcher Mallary Darby and outfielders Kortnee Wiley and Alex Arciniega play their final home games. Senior Day ceremonies will be held at the conclusion of the doubleheader.

On Friday, Howell was in command, striking out eight and walking two. She received plenty of offense as BYU had four home runs in the game, two off of Darby, who fell to 10-15 on the year and saw her string of five straight complete games snapped.
