RENO, Nev. (AP) - Cardiologists at Renown Health in Reno will be released from a non-compete contract clause under settlements with federal trade regulators and the state attorney general's office.
The settlements announced Monday with the Federal Trade Commission and Nevada attorney general's office will allow up to 10 Renown staff cardiologists to join competing practices without penalty.
The FTC says the agreements were necessary to help restore competitive balance in the Reno-Sparks adult cardiology services market.
Renown acquired Sierra Nevada Cardiology Associates in 2010 and Reno Heart Physicians in 2011.
The acquisitions gave Renown about 97 percent of the market at the time based on the number of cardiologists involved.
