Fernley House Fire

FERNLEY, NV - Two houses on "G" street in Fernley are destroyed after a brush fire grew out of control.

Crews responded to reports of a brush fire around five Sunday evening. By the time they arrived, one house was fully engulfed in flames. The family was home at the time, but everyone was able to get out safely.

The fire then spread to a second home.

"The lady's house just went up in flames," says Caitlin McCain, who knocked on the woman's door to notify her about the fire. "Before she could even get anything else out, all she got out were her dogs and cats. She couldn't get anything else out."

Both homes were destroyed.

One firefighter suffered a back strain. The cause of the fire is under investigation. However, witnesses reported seeing kids running from the area shortly after then fire began.
