Working Police Dog Shot After Biting Officer

LAS VEGAS (AP) - A Las Vegas police officer is hospitalized with
serious dog bite injuries and the police K-9 that attacked him is
being treated for a gunshot after a chaotic search for a
knife-wielding suspect.
Officer Laura Meltzer says the suspect was taken into custody
following a call 10:30 a.m. Monday about a person with a knife in a
residential neighborhood west of downtown.
Meltzer says one Las Vegas police officer shot the trained K-9
after the animal attacked another officer during a house-to-house
and yard-to-yard chase.
The names of the officers, the suspect and the dog weren't
immediately made public.
