Mom in Scissors Killing Pleads Insanity

LAS VEGAS (AP) - A Las Vegas mother has pleaded not guilty by
reason of insanity to killing her 6-year-old daughter with scissors
after thinking she heard the girl speak and laugh in what she later
told police was an "evil voice."
A judge on Thursday set a May 16 trial-setting date for Danielle
Yvonne Slaughter in Clark County District Court.
Slaughter faces a murder charge that could put her in prison for
the rest of her life.
The 27-year-old Slaughter is claiming temporary insanity. Deputy
Clark County public defender Andrea Luem says she isn't
contesting Slaughter's competency for trial.
Slaughter was found naked and bloody March 11 near her home.
She told police the blood was from the "lamb of God," and
officers found the girl dead in the house.
