LAS VEGAS (AP) - The percentage of Nevada workers who belong to
a union has dropped slightly to 14.6 percent, continuing a downward
trend that started when the recession set in.

Bureau of Labor Statistics officials say Friday that 154,000
workers in Nevada were union members in 2011, and another 21,000
were represented by a union even though they weren't technically
members.

Nevada's union rate dropped from 15 percent in 2010, but is
still higher than the national 2011 union rate of 11.8 percent.

Union membership in Nevada peaked in 1996, when 20.4 percent of
workers were members.
