LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities in Las Vegas say a nearly six-year investigation has led to the arrest of a mother and her husband on murder charges stemming from injuries to the woman's infant son.
Records show that 26-year-old Monique Karien Bork and 32-year-old Edward Manuel Thompson Jr. were held Wednesday at the Clark County jail pending court appearances on murder charges. Bork is also accused of felony child neglect.
Police say Bork's 2-month-old son was hospitalized Aug. 21, 2006, with a traumatic brain injury that left him blind and required almost five years of hospice care. The couple married in September 2006. The child died in July 2011.
Police say a witness came forward in April with new evidence following a KLAS-TV story about the case.
