Care Home Owner Sentenced for Neglecting Job
Posted: 2:56 PM Apr 10, 2012
Reporter: AP

LAS VEGAS (AP) - A Las Vegas assisted living center owner
accused of forging medication records and maintaining sub-par
bathrooms has been sentenced to community service and a fine.

Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto said 42-year-old
Janice Burch was sentenced Tuesday for three gross misdemeanor
charges of neglect of duty in willful disregard of safety.

A caregiver complained that Burch directed her to forge
documents to hide that residents of Skyview Group Home II weren't
receiving all their medications.

Investigators say they also found bad toilet facilities and
faulty records.

Skyview residents were transferred to other facilities.

Burch is getting credit for time served, and was ordered to
complete 120 hours of community service and pay a $1,000 fine.
She's banned from owning or taking a job at medical centers or
group homes.
