The unions ARE America !

I costs the rest of us all billions for Sandy to mail a bill. Most modern people use email. We all miss the Pony Express too. The unions support the postal workers not America.... SUPRISE

WOW GREAT IDEA I'd appreciate it if I never saw another piece of junk mail that FILLS the trash cans in every post office!

Hmmm No surprise here! I received a package of a beautiful coffee table book, signed with a fabulous front cover......alas, it arrived with the packaging all ripped up and the book was badly damaged. When I insisted the "Postmaster" make it right, he told me that the sender had not insured the package and there was nothing they could do about it. I could have the person send me another one at her cost, he said. So....if you do not insure your packages, the PO is not responsible for damage. In other words, they are paid to do a job, but not responsible to the job RIGHT unless they get paid EXTRA!!!!! Wow! If only we could all be paid in the same manner. Can you imagine how horrible the service would be everywhere you go? Then they wonder why everyone is using UPS and FedEx. I can't stand the US Postal Service!

Until USPS decreases staff, it will continue to bleed-you know you have been in line with 25 other people, only one person working the window while 4 other people just walk back and forth. USPS is inefficient at best, mismanaged and has WAY too many employees who get paid too much for what they do and have benefits that are better than most. Someone needs to step in and shut it down or let it fail (there will be a private sector that will be able to do a better job), OR they need to have a massive restructure. The gov't should be completely hands off. NO BAIL OUT- let USPS die a (hopefully) fast death.

When are we going to admit the private sector does it better?

I don't understand why they haven't stopped Saturday deliveries yet. That is a given! Also, they could increase the amount of centralized delivery boxes in neighborhoods. There is no reason why postal workers have to walk up to each and every house to drop off mail. They could also get rid of half their upper management that don't even deliver mail and collect big bonuses. It just seems like the whole postal service is just waiting for a bail-out, and are not doing any measures to stem their loss.

They should triple the cost of sending junk mail to help with some of the cost.; My box is filled with it every day.

If the USFS would stop TV ads, lower salarys and retirement payouts, which are way too much. Maybe they could balance their budget and stay in business.
