LOS ANGELES (AP) - Corrections officials say a state convict who was mistakenly released from the Los Angeles County Jail has been apprehended in Los Angeles.
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said in a statement that 21-year-old Larry Darnell Howard was returned to Wasco State Prison on Friday.
He was apprehended Thursday - two days after he was released - near his home in Los Angeles by corrections special service unit agents, who are charged with capturing escapees.
Howard is serving a two-year sentence for first-degree burglary at Wasco State Prison. He was sent to Los Angeles to attend court hearings and had been scheduled to return, when he was erroneously freed by sheriff's officials.
He is up for parole in November.
About 99 percent of state escapees are apprehended.
