RENO, Nev. -- A wildfire in northeastern California is nearing major natural gas and power supply lines to the Reno area.

The Rush Fire has burned about 209,638 acres and is only 30% contained. It's burning in Bureau of Land Management land about 15 miles southeast of Ravendale, California, that is northeast of Susanville close to the Nevada border. At one spot, flames burned within a half mile of 395.

Crews are fighting not only the wildfire but erratic weather conditions which can leads to high winds, dust devils, and fire whirls.

Lightning started the Rush Fire on Sunday, August 12th. About 36 buildings are threatened; one barn has already been destroyed. Right now, more than 460 people are working to control fire, which isn't expected to be fully contained until August 22nd.
