RENO, Nev. -- Both directions of 395 south of Gardnerville, near Ray May Way, are open. The southbound lanes opened just before 7pm and the northbound lanes followed less than an hour later.
Nevada Highway Patrol officials remind drivers that with "the possibility of wet roads, light dirt and residual debris on the roadway, motorists should continue to use caution in this area. "
Earlier in the afternoon, NHP officials reported two cars got stuck in flood waters and one car suffered damage when it hit a boulder. Traffic backed up two or three miles in each direction.
There have been two significant wildfires in the area (the Ray May Fires) in the past two fire seasons. Terrain is often unstable and susceptible to land- and mudslides after wildfires.
