All of you people who are wanting to see an end to Burning Man are pathetic. Personally, I have no desire to ever go out there. However, if they want to go out to the middle of nowhere and party, while bringing MILLIONS of needed dollars to the area, have at it! Most of these "burners" are very easy going and just want to have a good time. There are bigger fish to fry than a bunch of hippies.

Why can't we leave those people alone and let them do what they want out there. They're paying their rent and cleaning up their area, good enough for me.

Your Math is not accurate. There are only a limited number of 400 dollar tickets. The others are 320 240 and yes low income (almost free) tickets. This event has no corporate sponsors and pays very large crews for set up and take down. They employ many locals and also donate all proceeds from the only two things they sell (coffee and Ice) to Pershing county charities. With all of this in mind, they can prove it with their budget - How do you get that this is a for profit business out of that?

I see these comments and wonder where people get their information. Most comments here are based on hear say. The math at 400 a person in not accurate. These people harm no one. They have very very high ethics and when everything is said and done, they leave no trace. They bring jobs, great attitudes, charity and significantly boost the economy to all of Northern Nevada. The event is closely monitored, you can not accidentally sneak in. People who participate are their by choice. Like with all communities, there will always be a few bad apples. Should Reno and Sparks be dissolved and chased off due to their crime? It is amazing that 54000 people can come together for 1 week with only 5 arrests last year. Look at the crime that occurs here in Reno every single day. For those of you who have problems with nudity, I was born nude. There was nothing filthy about it. Federal law has no problem with nudity (case in point - Tahoe Beaches). My suggestion is live and let live. Grow up. Open your minds. This truely is a freedom of speech issue. I can only hope and pray that Nevada, Pershing County and all of the small minded haters have the sense to not destroy such a beautiful event.

Burning Man is very profitable this is part of the problem 60k x 3-400 per head less the 16-18 million in overhead you do the math and I haven't even factored in concessions, camping fees, etc...These guys are making money with this now and everyone is wanting a piece of the action. It's sad but true...

WOW Robert! Talk about an Ol' stuffed shirt. A stick in the mud. You fit the bill, but good. You must be the most boring person in the world. Virginia and Sudden said some wonderful things, but you, Robert are a true idiot. You are truly uninformed about this event. "......grow up, get jobs, and add value to society????? REALLY ROBERT?? I have yet to go to even one of these events (really don't care for crowds of ANY kind), but know many, HARD working friends that have and do go to this event. They are extreamly honest, kind, work and work with great pride and certainly deserve to do with their free time (which is little or less than YOU could ever imagine), as they want to. They probably give much, much more to society than you could even dream of or do a smidgen of yourself. Take a good long look in the mirror Robert....your no God's gift to the world either. That's obvious by what you wrote. I do believe, as said previously, this is an event, not a requirement. You have a choice to attend or not. If your not there, how the hell can you say what goes on? It's also YOUR choice to check out the site's on the internet regarding this event. You choose Robert. No one is twisting your arm. PARTY ON BURNING MAN FOLKS!!!! PARTY ON! Enjoy the little time you get in this life, not to be working your life away. Have fun!!!

Of all things to focus on: Nudity and Lewdness in a remote area in the state of NV! I think the Pershing Co. boys want to add some spice to their jobs. Let's ignore the drug o.d.'s and focus on nakedness. Well we can't crack down on environmental damage because they leave no trace of the event so we better find 'em naked while they are here contributing much needed money to No. NV. Good Idea!

Its a money issue /profit ,they are having fit cause they have to pay more fees ,WHAAAAAAA ,the nudity ,i bet is not the biggest issue !

"They say Pershing County is unfairly imposing a festival ordinance that would bring significant new costs and restrictions to the event dedicated to radical self-expression." What about the rest of the costs and restrictions? BM 60,0000 x $400.00 people = 24,000,000 ,yes BM should pay more !Id like to see the profit/loss statements along with the tax returns .I don't feel sorry for any of the Bm folks ,big Whaaaaaaaaa !

Too much traffic. Too big of a carbon foot print. Trash from Sparks to the playa. Human waste from Nixon to the playa. Illegal drugs. A total commercial exploitation of sex, freedom, and beauty. Total disregard for the lifestyle and property of others from Lovelock, Summit Lake, Cedarville, surrounding ranches, and tribal lands. I call that vulgar, not the nudity.

So stay home, Bob.

Best idea I have seen yet!

As lame as these comments, save for Virginia, perhaps I should point out that it was a federal lawsuit and not a Californian lawsuit. Exactly who amongst the 60,000 are going to find the nudity offensive, vulgar or lewd? Yet some meddling, church-going locals with dark, dirty secrets of their own who won't be within miles of the goings-on want to impose their puritanical beliefs. What if vulgar ain't vulgar in the eyes of the beholder?
