Three Wildfires Burning Around Quincy Not Threatening Homes

RENO, Nev. -- Three fires burning on different sides of Quincy, California are not threatening homes.

The largest of the wildfires, the Peak Fire, is northeast of Quincy off of Beckwourth Genesee Road. It started Saturday just before 4:30pm and within 19 hours had already burned 225 acres. People can see smoke from central and eastern Plumas County and from as far away as Honey Lake Valley which is in Lassen County.

KOLO 8 News News viewer Mark Gregory sent a picture of the billowing, white smoke he saw from Lake Davis. The Peak Fire is not threatening any buildings. Crews estimate they'll have the fire contained by Sunday evening.

The Chips Fire, near the town of Belden northwest of Quincy, started early Sunday morning and by mid-morning was up to 25 acres. It is burning on both sides of the Pacific Rim Trail so the trail is shut down between Highway 70 and Highway 36. There are no estimates on containment at this time.

The Eureka Fire is now completely under control. It started early Thursday morning on Eureka Ridge southeast of Quincy. Firefighters limited that fire to only four acres.
