RENO, Nev. -- Reno police have arrested a man in a standoff at the Vagabond Inn on S. Virginia and Gentry. Officers led Vathana Khiev out of the hotel wrapped in a sheet. He was loaded into an ambulance.
The standoff started around 9:30 Friday evening when police received reports of a man acting strangely and throwing items out of his hotel room window. Police weren't able to get him on the phone, so they went in through the broken window.
At one point, officers say the man was in the shower because he said he felt hot. Police turned off the water to the room and the man was sedated and led out of the room minutes later. They say he was under the influence of a drug, possibly bath salts. He was arrested for destruction of property because of extreme damage to the room and water damage to rooms below.
During the standoff, nearby rooms were evacuated. No one was hurt.
