CARSON CITY, NV - Two teenage boys were flown to Renown in Reno Monday after their SUV went down a steep embankment.
Both boys and one more, all 17 years old, were headed toward Carson City on Ash Canyon Road, a narrow dirt road, when they lost control and hit an embankment. The driver tried to slow down, but the Toyota Forerunner flipped, ejecting one boy. The other two were held in by their seatbelts as the SUV went about 200 feet downhill, rolling several times.
The boys who were trapped all the way down were flown by helicopter; the other boy was treated at the scene and sent home.
The Carson City Sheriff's Office says this was an accident, with no speed or alcohol involvement. This is the second rescue this year on that stretch, with a very steep road.
