RENO, Nev. -- Some people across the Truckee Meadows saw low-flying aircraft Wednesday morning as part of the effort to prevent the spread of West Nile Virus.
The Washoe County Health District Vector Control Program is taking steps to limit the number of mosquitoes in the Truckee Meadows through an aerial mosquito larvicide treatment. The ultimate goal is to limit or prevent the spread of diseases transmitted by mosquitoes.
The latest part of the effort began at 6am Wednesday, July 11th in the area of Rosewood Lakes Golf Course. Other locations include the Damonte Ranch, Spanish Springs, and Washoe Lake areas.
This is the second aerial mosquito larvicide treatment for the area.
