Bus Drivers Ratify RTC Contract

RENO, Nev. -- Reno bus drivers have approved the deal their union made last week, avoiding a strike. Representatives of the drivers' union, Teamsters Local 533, say the deal extends through June 2014.

The RTC drivers are employed by a company called MV Transportation. Talks between the union and MV Transportation appeared to break down earlier this month but a last minute deal was reached on June 22nd.

Friday's vote by the bus drivers ratified that June 22nd deal.

Union members say time off was the central issue during negotiations.
