WINNEMUCCA, Nev. (AP) - Police in northern Nevada say a
14-year-old boy is facing a felony murder charge in the shooting
death of his mother at their home in Winnemucca.

Police Chief Eric Silva tells the Elko Daily Free Press the teen was arrested after he was seen running from the house shortly before his mother was found dead about 4:30 p.m. Monday.

The boy was interviewed by police and booked at the Humboldt
County Detention Center. He faces trial as an adult.

Silva says investigators recovered a gun in the house. A motive for the shooting was not made public.

The Associated Press is not identifying the juvenile or his mother due to his age.

Winnemucca is about 100 miles west of Elko and 150 miles east of
Reno.
