ELKO, Nev. (AP) - A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder
in the shooting death of a 31-year-old woman in Elko.

The Elko Daily Free Press reports 22-year-old Matthew Deacon of Elko was booked Friday into the county jail without bail in Casey Tervort's death earlier in the day.

Witnesses told police that Tervort was staying with a friend in an adjacent trailor when she went to Deacon's home. After she knocked on his door, Deacon opened it and allegedly shot her.

Deacon fled from the scene, but surrendered to police after officers released a dog to track him.

Deacon was arrested on suspicion of battery domestic violence in July 2011, and on a driving under the influence charge in March 2010 in Carlin.
