RENO, NV - Reno police have released the name of a man crushed to death after a chase downtown.

Wednesday morning about 11, police were helping Municipal Court marshals, who were trying to stop a man with a warrant out for his arrest. The man was on a bicycle, but then dropped the bike and ran.

Officers and marshals stopped the search when they couldn't find the man, but then a resident at the Truckee River Terrace Apartments reported finding a man in a trash compactor there. That's where police found 37-year-old Rodney Wright, the man marshals had been looking for.

Police say it appears Wright had jumped into a trash chute from one of the apartment floors and slid down to the attached compactor, which has an electronic activation that was apparently tripped when Wright entered it. An autopsy indicates Wright was crushed by the compactor. He was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital.
