Cat, you are correct. Live food is best, though I have to add rabbit is an excellent food for cats. Bones, skin and all. Yes, definitely do the research as to the supplements that must go into making a good quality cat food. Get the calcium to protein ratio correct, taurine and fish oil too. The worst wet cat food is still 100% better than the dry kibble. Don't listen to all the hype from the pet food manufacturers. They have only one interest and that's their profit margin.

Careful on making your own cat food. They have very specific and complicated dietary needs. First they are obligatory carnivores, they will die if they don't get meat. But, the high meat diet will eventually kill them because their kidneys can't take that much protein (evolutionary failure on their part). The best all around meal for a cat is a whole, live mouse. The mouse covers all their dietary needs. But cats must be trained to eat live food and most house raised cats don't recognize a mouse as food, just a fun toy. I do agree that wet food is best and kibble should only be a complementary food, and not available to them all day long, they need specific feeding times.

If you have cats please do yourself the favor of researching what their dietary requirements are. Cats are CARNIVORES! They are NOT omnivores like dogs and as obligate carnivors cat kibble is the absolute worst thing you can feed them. Change their diet from the Doritos/cat kibble to all wet food. Research and make your own; it's not that hard at all to do. My cats have shed the extra pounds they were carrying and gotten much more active since I got them off the kibble.

Animals do not eat on the same schedule as people. I wonder how many people know that working dogs doing hard physical labor only eat three times per week? That is all they need, but they are large high protein meals.

Is there a video of this? Someone has a labradoodle named Tucker that is a dead ringer for the Tucker in this story, and I'd like her to see it!

As a groomer, I see so many dogs who are massively obese and it breaks my heart. Food/treats does NOT equal love. People are "loving" their dogs to a very slow painful death.
