RENO, Nev. (AP) - A dangerous sex offender wanted on warrants in Michigan has been arrested in Reno.
Police Sgt. Tony Benedetti says they aren't sure how long James Edward Gibson had been hiding out in Reno because he had not registered his address with law enforcement as required by law.
Detectives, with the help of the U.S. Marshals Service and Nevada Department of Parole and Probation, arrested Gibson Wednesday and booked him into the Washoe County Jail.
Michigan warrants charge him with failure to register his address and weapons violations. He's listed in that state as a Tier 3 sex offender, the level at highest risk to commit more sex offense.
His last verified address was reported in April 2011.
