Retailers Expect Nevadans to Splurge on Easter

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Nevada retailers are predicting an
economic surge with the upcoming Easter holiday.

The Retail Association of Nevada estimates consumers in the state will spend about $290 million on meals, gifts, candy, spring clothing, cards and flowers to celebrate Easter, which falls this year on April 8.

Nationally, the National Retail Federation projects average per-person spending will jump 11 percent this year, to around $145, up from $131 last year.

In Nevada, the report estimates consumer will spend $89 million on food for the holiday meal, $47 million on clothing and accessories, and $41 million on candy.
