Douglas Co. Investigators Ask for Help in Homicide
Posted: 5:27 PM Aug 10, 2012 Reporter: Staff
RENO, Nev. -- Douglas County investigators are asking for help with a homicide case that started months ago.
In February of 2012, the skeletal remains of a man were found in a natural drainage ditch in a remote area in northeastern Douglas County. The remains were later identified as those of 40-year-old Francisco Alejandro Lopez-Gonzalez.
Lopez-Gonzalez had been reported missing from Brooklyn Park, Minnesota in June of 2011.
Investigators say Lopez-Gonzalez had been in the area visiting 34-year-old Manuel Acevedo, who is from Reno. Officials now say Acevedo is a person of interest, but his current location is not known.
Acevedo drives a white 1993 Honda 2-door sedan, with the Nevada plate "019 XTJ."
If you have any information about either Lopez-Gonzalez or Acevedo or know where Acevedo is now, investigators would like you to call Douglas County Investigator Nadine Chrzanowski at (775) 782-9909 or Douglas County Secret Witness at: 775-782-7463.
