RENO, Nev.—Adam Eaton lined a double off the wall in left-center in the bottom of the ninth inning Sunday afternoon, chasing home Tyler Bortnick with the game-winning run in a 3-2 walk-off Reno Aces victory over the Sacramento River Cats at Aces Ballpark.

Aces starter Tyler Skaggs cruised through seven innings, leaving with a 2-1 lead. But, the River Cats would claw back into the game, tying the score in the top of the eighth off the Reno bullpen. After Jensen Lewis kept Sacramento off the scoreboard in the top of the ninth, the Aces struck in the home half. Bortnick led-off the frame with a single, moved to second on a Konrad Schmidt hit-by-pitch and came around to score the game-winner on Eaton’s two-strike double.

Skaggs took a no decision, despite holding the River Cats to a run on six hits with 10 strikeouts over seven innings. Lewis (3-1) picked-up the victory.

The loss fell to Sacramento reliever Pedro Figueroa (0-2), who surrendered the ninth-inning run.

At the plate for Reno, Bortnick led the way with two hits, including a double. Four of the Aces’ nine hits went for extra bases.

The Aces and River Cats will hook-up again on Monday night at Aces Ballpark. RHP Charles Brewer (6-6, 5.61 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while Sacramento counters with RHP Brandon McCarthy (0-0, No ERA) pitching on a Major League Rehabilitation Assignment.
