LAS VEGAS (AP) - Nevada voters had other things on their minds Tuesday.
Only 19 percent of voters statewide participated in the Nevada's primary elections. That's a significant drop from the 30 percent statewide voter participation rate in the 2010 primaries.
The voter turnout numbers suggest Republicans in the state's largely conservative rural counties were more eager to turn in their ballots than voters in urban Reno and Las Vegas. That might spell trouble for Democrats in November.
Eureka County had the highest turnout at 56 percent. Washoe and Clark counties had the lowest turnouts at 20 and 16 percent, respectively.
In Clark County, 23 percent of Republicans turned out, compared with Democrats' 17 percent.
Historically, rural, Republican voters turn out more often than urban, Democratic voters.
